My graduation [from college] gift from my grandfather was a digital video camera, which certainly feeds my need to document.   I have always made movies, and now I am empowered to make them in style.   My beautiful camera was ordered after midnight on 18 November 99 and I began flooding my diary with images on 25 November 1999.   My first video clip appeared on 1 December 1999.

I had to have it!   The Canon GL-1.   My baby!   I seriously considered a Canon XL-1, but it was a bit too extravagant (and I wanted an LCD panel), and I pretended to consider a Sony VX1000, but I really liked the Canons so much better.

I adore this camera and I want to take it with me at all times.   I even painted a watercolor of it!   This camera is the best gift I have ever received, ranking just above the electric blanket my father gave me as a Christmas present when I was a pre-teen and which I used every night until I left home for college.
