Concerts
I have only been to a half dozen live music performances in my life. Two of those were George Clinton, just by chance. I had an opportunity to go to a Greatful Dead show, which I turned down. I don't really regret that, for a probably wouldn't have liked it, but it would be a unique life experience to have had. I do understand that I like recorded music better than live music in most cases. I think I tend to like the version of a song that I hear first. So I prefer originals to remakes and unchanging recorded versions to live music. Here are the concerts I have attended:
- Duran Duran and a bunch of other groups, put on by an LA radio station. I went during my senior year of high school with a friend named Kara.
- The Pharcyde at a Hollywood club called Luna. This was a premiere party for a TV show called The Ride. I have no idea how I got on the invite list, but I took high school friend named Erica. We got picked up on by a lot of guys, and realized once the performance started that some of the Pharcyde had been hitting on us. We felt silly for not knowing, because a date with any of the members would have made a good story for high school gossip. Nonetheless I had a lot of fun.
- Sara Hart at the Troubador. Summer before I went to college with mr. deletia.
- George Clinton and the P-Funk AllStars. I went alone during my first year of college, but ran into a ton of friends from school there
- George Clinton and the P-Funk AllStars. I went with Desirée, Rita, and Michelle, a friend from high school, during our first of second years of college.
- Alannis Morisette. The best concert I've been to, because the energy was rocking, and I went with my mom, and brought her a lot of joy. I can't remember when that was, but it was in LA.
