[This is an old bit of nonsense I wrote that I can't bear to take down.]
I am a vegan cinefile, and in my spare time I am a computer consultant and web page designer at the University of California - Berkeley. Je suis un Film Studies major et un Dramatic Arts minor. I dig being a staff member. I get to help people and work with computers -- two of my favorite things. The other staff members are wonderful and no one looks down on me for being into computers!
I love web pages. My favorite part of this job is taking a client onto the web for the first time. There is so much to learn! I often check out Help Sessions. I love HTML and UNIX. I enjoy OOP and I am excited about learning JavaScript.
I think the grand question is why have a personal web page? Well, I am encouraged to have one for work, but that does not account for my personal page. I initially made one just to see if I could. Now, comes the real tragedy. I did not have a computer for my first three years here. (This was actually a blessing, because if I did have one, I would have played on it all day.) The lack of machine did not bother me, except that I had no copy of Netscape on which to bookmark my favorite pages. So now my web pages serve to list all of the sites that I care to frequent (or that I think that you should visit) without me having to write the URLs down. I did finally get a computer (a rip-roaring Power Tower Pro), but I have no internet connection, so the problem persists. That is my story . . .
