rap music
I love rap. I have love rap ever since I developed my own taste in music, which I did as an early teen. Prior to that I only listened to what my parents did. Thus I grew up on 70's music, which is now classified as classic rock. When I was around 13 I went to summer camp and watched some music videos that one of my bunkmates had taped off of MTV. I was opened up to a whole new world. For that one summer after I returned from camp I watched MTV religiously. Salt 'N Pepa was the second tape I ever bought -- after Paul Simon's Graceland. I actually remember listening to Salt 'N Pepa's Push It during elementary school.
In high school I loved rap. My parents did not. My brother did not [and he would later discover his own taste with alternative (yeech!)]. I love Salt 'N Pepa and TLC, Snoop DOg and Waren G. My favorite song of all time is Big Poppa by Notorious B.I.G. [here is a ridiculously funny midi version of the song, an mp3, and here are the lyrics] I was in a rap music video, for LA Dream Team, which was part of a TV pilot which I'm sure never aired. That was fun! That was how I met mr. deletia -- he was directing.
I am not showing my age, for I don't like most of the rap that comes out now; I like what is now know as "old school" stuff. I consider a club that plays old school rap and hip hop for dancing to be an ideal find. I do enjoy foreign language rap, such as Chinese and French, because it amuses me.
